SKILLET: Your Modern Japanese Fusion Cafe & Bistro

Unique flavors inspired from the fusion of Japanese and Western cuisine is the stronghold for Skillet Japanese Café and Bistro. Led by their chef, Masaki Tsuji, Skillet has successfully fused not only Japanese and Western Cuisine but also Asian cuisine.

Fortunately, we were invited to try their newly-crafted dessert which we will share shortly. Varied appetizers were served before the main dessert. The appetizers were very succulent and were plated to spice up your appetite. We’ve had their Bangbang Chicken, Sisig Quesadilla, Smoked Salmon, Onion Gratin Soup, and Caprese with Basil Miso Soup.

Unique and Varied Appetizers

The Bangbang Chicken got our attention. It’s a steamed chicken topped with a Korean-inspired sauce. The sauce gave off an aroma to kick-start eating. Overall, it has a balanced taste of sweetness and spiciness which favored our tasted buds.

The Caprese was something we were not a fan of. But the Parmesan Cheese and Tomato combination was just great. The Sisig Quesadilla is also a Mexican-Filipino fusion dish. The Sisig gave a spicy-kick to the taste of the quesadilla. And definitely, you don’t need to smother the quesadilla with any sauce.

The Smoked Salmon was also something we were expecting. The freshness of the Salmon just completed the series of appetizers served.

Matcha Desserts

As a pre-game for the main dessert, we were given the chance to try their Matcha cheesecake and Matcha crepecake. As a non-fan for Matcha desserts, these desserts didn’t gave us any awkward after taste. It had the right amount of Matcha especially for the cheesecake.

The main dessert – The Dessert Ramen. Initially, this has been exposed online in Skillet’s facebook page with only one flavor – Black Sugar. Now, they have given it two more flavors – Matcha and Mango. The Dessert Ramen is like the Filipino Halo-Halo. It has slices of watermelon, mango, and Nata de coco and some Mochi. The noodles were of the same composition with their Dew Droplet Cake. You eat it like you’re playing with it. It is definitely another masterpiece by chef Tsuji.

Skillet will be kicking off their Dessert Buffet this 18th of February with Matcha Madness for Php 499.00 only. They are located at the Norkis Cyberpark along A. S. Fortuna Street, Bakilid, Mandaue City Cebu.
