Best Things that Happened to Foodies in 2015 (Part II)

For 2015, Cebu Foodies need to embrace the CHANGES in the food industry, especially restaurants. So here’s part 2 of the best things that happened to foodies in Cebu for 2015:

  1. Robinsons Galleria Brought the BUZZZ and the SILVANASBuzz - Sans

One of the best things that happened to Cebu Foodies was when Robinsons Galleria declared that they have brought in Buzzz Café from Bohol and Sans Rival which is famous for its Silvanas from Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.

Buzzz Café is known for their Organic Dining Experience! They have the BEST organic Ice Cream and it’s a must try when you visit this Café. Sans Rival highlights the BEST of Dumaguete’s Silvanas and other desserts. When you go to Dumaguete, you need not to forget those Silvanas or you’ll be wrecked with havoc by your colleagues. For Cebu Foodies now, it’s no longer a problem to get your hands on those Silvanas though there’s a price difference of Php 30.00 per box.

  1. HALA PAELLA: The Talk of the Town!Hala

This restaurant has really caused an uproar in social media in the middle of 2015! Not to mention they aren’t big restaurant if you compare it to the likes of Casa Verde. Hala Paella offers one of the best paellas in the metropolis.

Usually, paellas are serve on the pan and people need to eat the paella from the pan. Hala Paella is only restaurant that made this Spanish dish affordable and convenient for their patrons. You can get your Paellas in three different sizes – Solo, Grande, and Familia.

Last January 6, 2016, Hala opened its branch in Robinsons Cybergate Fuente. Now, that’s awesome news for Cebu Foodies.

  1. BUFFETS Madly Growing in CebuBuffet

Several Manila brand buffets have been constantly opening in different parts of Metro Cebu. This manifests that Filipinos, especially Cebuanos are really into Food.

On May 9, 2015, Yakimix formally opened its doors to the Cebu Market. They are found at Capitol Central, N. Escario Street, Cebu City. Their buffet starts at Php 499/head net. This year, 2016, they will be opening another branch in SM Seaside City Cebu around February.

Before 2015 ended, Buffet 101 International Cuisine which is located at City Time Square, Tipolo, Mandaue City had their soft opening in the middle of December. Their Buffet starts at Php 599/head net.

So what are the other Buffet places that’ll be opening soon in the metropolis? We have Vikings at the North Wing of SM City Cebu, NIU by Vikings and Four Seasons Buffet & Hotpot at SM Seaside City Cebu.

  1. BURGER KING is ALMOST EVERYWHEREBurger King Facade

Beefy grilled patties, affordable prices with generous servings. These are just some of the several reasons why Burger King patrons are coming back nonstop. Burger King set foot in Cebu just last year, 2015.

Within 2015, they were able to expand to at most 5 branches located at Cebu IT Park, at Cebu Business Park, at Axis Entertainment Avenue along Escario Street and at Mabolo. Three of their branches opened during the last quarter of 2015.

With Burger King almost everywhere, it’s bringing happiness and convenience to its patrons.

  1. ROCK ‘N PIZZA: The First Pizza Buffet in the Metro.Pizza

Rock N’ Pizza started at Tayud, Consolacion, Cebu within the vicinity of the owner’s house. In June 8, 2015, they formally opened to a more accessible area – Nasipit Commercial Plaza, Talamban, Cebu. Up to date, they are the first and only restaurant offering a pizza buffet.

For their pizza buffet, it starts at Php 279 for their Lite Pizza Buffet and Php 359 for their Rock ‘N Pizza Buffet. On a personal note, their pizza are like the average pizzas that I have tasted so far but they have the most generous toppings compared to all the pizza places I’ve been. Don’t fret, they also have an Ala Carte menu if you can’t handle the buffet.

And that ends our quick recap for 2015! For 2016, watch out for best restaurants that have made a name in CEBU.
